Introduction:

Yes, apart from Internet, there is plenty of valuable information out there! Nothing can really replace paper based book: something you can take with you anywhere, something you can sense and make notes on. Multimedia CD-ROMs are also very valuable: such big amount of pictures, spoken texts (from audio files) and reference materials, cannot be yet compared to web.

But if you wish to deepen your knowledge and learn what genetic engineering is about, its technologies and techniques; then this book is good.

GEENOR's comment: you can learn Mendel's laws, find out how scientists discovered, that DNA is this substance, that carries genetic material, learn about basics of genetics. Presentations are accompanied by spoken text. The CD-ROM has also genetics related glossary and general purpose Webster style dictionary. Despite the fact that many issues related to genetics are not covered here (like double helix, etc.) it is a good introductory material for beginners.
